Doodle Wheel Birthday
Welcome to this week's LIMES inspiration post!
I chose this card as my inspiration from the gallery of this week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper!
LIST: Colours (purple, red, black), Techniques (distress smooshing, stamping, stenciling), Elements (rich background, black stamping and stenciling, hearts, large sentiment, black mat)
INCLUDE: red, purple, stenciling, rich background, hearts, sentiment down the right side
MODIFY: white instead of black, gel print technique with stencilling in background, die cut hearts and sentiment
EXCLUDE: black, stamping
SPIN: square cards, added dew drops
I really love the smooshed background of the inspiration, and I also love how Catherine Pooler reds and purples mix to make a beautiful berry colour. I used a gel plate, and built up my colour by putting down Rockin Red on the top half and Flirty Fuchsia on the bottom half. I did that 4 times to get a really rich, blended panel. On the next layer, I put the Flirty Fuchsia on the top half and Grape Crush on the bottom half before putting the Doodle Wheels stencil on top and then pressing my panel into that to lift a subtle, almost tone on tone pattern.
I wanted to brighten my card up a bit with white details rather than black. To get my sentiment all down the right side, I cut my birthday die cut into two pieces with my snippy scissors. I added 3 hearts and then a bunch of little pink dewdrops for some sparkle and shine.
